RA Meeting: May 7th, 2020

With the COVID-19 pandemic seeing the country in lockdown, the Scunthorpe RA members met via ZOOM for their latest meeting.

PRESENT: Rob Atkin, Andy Pontin, John Borrill, Ethan Andrew-Freeston, Ryan Boult, Ryan Coulson, Ethan Nundy, Harry Atkin, Robbie Hall, Amy Barber, Daz Bright, Dave Babski, David Raines, Shemakay Own, James Needham, James Moody, Jonathan Walker, Mark Wordsworth, Will Norriss, Stephen Farrow.

LINCS FA UPDATE – MICHAEL BRADER

  • LFA working hard to prepare for the season ahead (whenever it may commence)
  • Promotions to Level 4 will be decided / announced by the FA when they are able to make a decision with the current COVID-19 situation.
  • Fitness tests cancelled for now and will be arranged when it is safe and practical to do so.
  • Remember to look after yourselves, stay healthy and focus on our health rather than football.
  • LFA Committee has changed. Andy Farr is the New Chairperson, with Rob Atkin, Gary Sutton, Martin Chester and Declan Ford now on the Committee.
  • NCEL
    • Referees at Level 4 will be required to middle NCEL Premier Division fixtures as it is now a Supply League.
    • Humber Premier League and York Leagues have lost their Supply League status.
  • LINCS LEAGUE
    • New teams have applied to join the league for next season – could be 20 teams in the league this time round!
    • There may be a shortage of AR’s for this league. LFA in discussion with the clubs to make aware and get ideas. A suggestion being that clubs ‘train’ a couple of helpers?

UPDATE – DAVE BABSKI

  • Gave his opinion on the Professional game. Games could resume behind closed doors but the logistics etc is a massive operational headache! More meetings to be held to progress Project Restart.
  • Mentioned a new PGMOL project called ASPIRE. Being used to help breakdown aspects of and explain the Laws of the Game in more understandable training formats (exercises / coaching / articles / pictures / clips)

SUNDAY LEAGUE UPDATE – JOHN BORRILL

  • All Sunday League clubs contacted and decision made to make the 2019/20 season null and void.
  • It is hoped that the Cup Finals can be played before the new season kicks off (situation and time dependant)
    • The league to look at the acceptance of 2019-20 player registrations to complete these Finals.

EVENTS

  • Non-league Finals Day at Wembley – CANCELLED
  • Refs footy match – U25’s v O25’s at the end of the season – TO BE RESCHEDULED
  • RA dinner – RESCHEDULED to Friday, October 16th, 2020

AOB

  • Saturday League still deciding on their Cup competitions.
  • The Grimsby Sunday League have proposed a pre-season summer tournament, subject to restrictions etc including teams from Grimsby, Scunthorpe, Gainsborough and Lincoln. More news on this will be passed on IF this is likely to progress.
  • Suggestion to have on-line training sessions through platforms such as Zoom until we are able to meet up. Daz Bright to organise sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays through the coming weeks.

  • We reviewed and discussed a number of match incidents.
