Scunthorpe Referee’s Association match officials will be ditching the whistle this Sunday evening and instead be intentionally kicking the ball when they take part in a charity football match.
It’ll be the second annual Over-25s v Under-25s match, with the first coming two years ago (last year suspended due to the pandemic). Last time out, it was the Over-25s (in black) who triumphed to win the Uriah Rennie Trophy, winning on a sudden death penalty shoot-out.
The Under-25s will this time be managed by Ethan Nundy after Robbie Hall was sacked following the defeat last time out, while Dave Jones will aim to continue the Over-25s’ 100% record as he take charge of that side.
All referee participants will be paying £5 to play, with all proceeds going to Children in Need. The match will be taking place at South Axeholme Academy on the 3G pitch, on Sunday, November 21st, kick-off 6pm.
The match will be 30 minutes each way, and will be a nine-v-nine encounter.
Anyone who wishes to attend the game is more than welcome to spectate, with donations gratefully received – all gate receipts again being donated to Children in Need.
